Diversity/Outreach and Court Support Program

The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) believes that unique and specialized services should be available to all people, regardless of ethnic heritage, faith, gender, culture, age, social and financial status, ability, or sexual orientation. To improve our services, reduce barriers, and increase inclusivity and accessibility, SACE has a Diversity/Outreach Program dedicated to diverse communities in Edmonton and surrounding areas.

The Diversity/Outreach Program is a multi-faceted program that provides counselling, court support, public education, outreach and community engagement services to individuals and communities impacted by sexual violence. The services offered are culturally sensitive and community based.

The Diversity/Outreach team works in consultation with partnered service providers, settlement workers, community agencies, front-line workers, and diverse community groups at the grassroots level to build relationships, increase understanding, and promote community capacity building.

For court support, we offer information about criminal justice proceedings, court preparation, emotional support through the legal process, information about legal rights and responsibilities, and court accompaniment.

The Diversity/Outreach Program also offers specialized programs regarding War Rape. War Rape refers to any act of sexual violence committed by soldiers, other combatants or civilians during armed conflict or wartime. The Diversity/Outreach Program offers customized workshops and resources on issues pertaining to war-related sexual violence for family members, survivors, front-line workers, and professionals.
