Where to Get Help (Return to)

Legal

Victims of sexual assault can get legal help from the police and, later, the courts. If you require more information on these please refer to Legal Information.

However, these are not the only places that victims may want to access for assistance. After you have contacted the police and made an initial report of the crime, you will be contacted by Victim's Services within about a month. Victim's Services follows up with victims of crime and provides support and assistance to them.

Another program that may be helpful to survivors who are going to court is the Victims' Assistance Program run by the Edmonton John Howard Society. This program provides information and support to victims and witnesses of crime going through the criminal court process. You can call 422-0721 to get more information or to get help through the courts.
