Obligation to Report. In Alberta, you are legally bound to report all suspected cases of child abuse to Child Welfare. The Child Abuse Hotline is 1-800-387-5437. The most important thing is your child's safety (or the safety of any other child you might suspect is being abused). You, or Child Welfare, should call the police to further ensure the safety of your child and of other children. (To preserve physical evidence, which will probably be required in a court of law, it is important to contact authorities immediately.)
